ACELC News Release: At the regularly scheduled meeting of the ACELC Steering Committee on the morning of 9/16/2010 (after much discussion about concerns which have been raised over the proposed "Constituting Convention" in March 2011, to establish the ACELC as a legal entity) we have decided that we will no longer seek legal corporate status at this time, but simply continue as an association of LCMS congregations banded together for the common cause of addressing the errors our beloved Lutheran Church Missouri Synod either tolerates, endorses or promotes.
This "change of direction" in no way implies that we are taking any less seriously the concerns we have raised in our Fraternal Admonition, but since our only desire is to address these concerns, we see no reason to do anything that might cause confusion or misunderstanding amongst those whose fraternal participation we are seeking. Since there were many who felt that establishing the ACELC as a legal entity would get in the way of achieving that goal, we have determined, for the sake of love, that we would step back from that position so as to better achieve the stated purpose for establishing this association of congregations in the first place.
As we put this change into effect some of the documents on the ACELC web site (www.acelc.net) will necessarily need to be changed. We thank you for your patience throughout this process as we go about accomplishing this.
Your Servants In Christ,
The ACELC Steering Committee
